Adopt a Greyhound

You may have read that greyhounds make wonderful family pets. They do! Here’s how we make sure things work out well for both the greyhounds and our adopters and their families.

  • First, we are committed to the long-term welfare of each greyhound in our care and to the individuals and families who welcome them into their homes and hearts.
  • We believe the greyhounds are best served through a thorough adoption process that matches the needs of each individual dog with the desires and lifestyle of our adopters.
  • If any of our adopters ever have to relinquish their greyhound, however, we will always take our greyhounds back into our adoption program.

How We ‘Do What We Do’

As soon as each greyhound enters our adoption center, we begin to “do what we do.” The dogs are bathed and dipped. They receive a new collar and ID tag, as well as a new name signifying their new life! Soon after, they get a complete medical overhaul (read the PDF below), including blood work, treatment for various parasites common to track greyhounds (see Because You Asked), dental care and spay or neuter.

As we get to know the personality of each dog, we also test them for compatibility with children, cats and other breeds of dog.
